Are You Making this Deadly Marketing Mistake?

The Comm Entrepreneur

danger sign

As business owners, we’re faced with some tough decisions. In order to make ends meet we sometimes have to tighten our budget and cut out the non-essentials. What any experienced business owner will tell you is that there are certain areas of a budget that should never make their way to the chopping block – marketing being one of them.

One of the most deadly marketing mistakes you can make is to halt your efforts in an attempt to save money. Scores of great strategies have been pulled before they have begun to payoff. That’s right; you invest all this time and money into creating and implementing a marketing plan, but pull the plug before things really get going. While this may save you a few bucks right now, it will most certainly hurt your bottom line in the long run.

Here are four ways you can avoid making this deadly…

Disappearing Temple Of Shiva By Muruga Sthambeshwar

Ramani's blog

There is a Temple of Lord Shiva which disappears only to reappear.

Legends say that this Temple was built by Kartikeya, called Murugan in Tamil, after he killed Tarakasura.(Kumararika kanda, Skanda Puarna)

The Temple is in the Gulf of Cambay in Gujarat.

This Lingam of Lord Shiva can only be viewed during the low tide hours and gets disappeared inside the sea during high tide hours. Stambheswar.imagejpg.. This Lingam of Lord Shiva can only be viewed during the low tide hours and gets disappeared inside the sea during high tide hours. Stambheswar.

The Temple is gets totally submerged into the Sea during the high tide hours and as the tide starts to get low it again starts emerging out of the sea inch by inch, unveiling the 4 feet high Shiva lingam.

It is ideal to plan a trip for at least whole day and night, so that you can see and enter the temple in the early morning low tide hours and can also meditate in the quite, peaceful…

Rest deeply in the unknown

Zen Flash

Human beings have a drive for security and safety, which is often what fuels the spiritual search. This very drive for security and safety is what causes so much misery and confusion. Freedom is a state of complete and absolute insecurity and not knowing. There is no security in freedom, at least not in the sense that we normally think of security. This is, of course, why it is so free: there’s nothing there to grab hold of.

When you rest deeply in the Unknown without trying to escape, your experience becomes very vast. The Unknown is more vast, more open, more peaceful, and more freeing than you ever imagined it would be.

Why Shiva When There Is Vishnu In Veda

Ramani's blog

Thee was a message to me in Facebook from one of the members of  Facebook Community ,asking me,

‘Why there is Shiva when there is Vishnu in the Vedas?’

Sankaranarayana ,Sankaran Koil.png Sankaranarayana ,Sankaran Koil.

Very intelligent question, devoid of prejudice.

( The question could have been the other way around as well)

If people had asked themselves this question and studied the Vedas , the clash between various sects of Hinduism ,especially between the Iyers and Vasihavaites would never have taken place.

Religion is an Experience.

One can feel it, experience, never know it.

Like pleasure, pain’ hunger, thirst, these are to be felt.

When some one says I know pain it means that he/she knows the feelings of Pain, not pain directly.

Religious experience falls under this category.

Hinduism believes in Reality, one , two  depends on one’s perspective and mental disposition.

Truth is One people view it differently.

Highlights of Budapest

Sherry Lachelle Travels

I mentioned in a previous post, that one of the highlights of my month-long trip in Europe was bicycle riding along the Danube and stopping at wineries along the way.  The Szechenyi Baths was also a highlight for me and some of my fellow travelers.  The Szechenyi Baths were so beautiful and the thermal mineral water so relaxing, after all of the walking, lugging of suitcases, and mental challenges encountered on the trip.  In fact, some of my group went back later for round two!

With fifteen indoor baths of varying temperature and three outdoor, you’re sure to melt away that tension!

After soaking for a while, we went back to the hotel to shower and prepare for our day’s activities.  We began with a tour of the imperial Parliament Building.  It’s the third largest Parliament Building in Europe.

What Are The Three Ways To Enhance Margins?

the pipeline.

marginsIf you have been in sales for any period of time you have learned that gross margins are an extremely important part of your livelihood.  In fact, the better designed compensation plans pay on margin and not top line gross sales.

Depending on your industry, the simple reality of margin preservation is a troublesome activity.  The rise of procurement or strategic sourcing typically has you scrambling and spending large amounts of time justifying the smallest increases. If it’s not procurement it’s the savvy department head who has thoroughly researched your deliverable and knows exactly how to shrink your beloved margin.

What can a sales person do to enhance their position and get paid for what you deliver? In my experience, margin enhancement comes down to three main points:

  1. Speed
  2. Creativity
  3. Relationship

Speed is defined as how fast the client needs the product or service.  What should you do if your…

Why Leadership Really Matters

Lead Today

Top performing, passionate people still need direction, focus and a purpose. The most common source for those three prerequisites for success is an effective leader. Without effective leadership even top performers lose the motivation the use their skills and abilities.

They can get simple direction from a manager, they can even be somewhat forced to focus but their purpose becomes clear only when there is a vision to work towards. Vision casting is a prime responsibility of an effective leader.

People will put forth effort for money… for a while. Money alone however has proven to be a poor motivator for top performers. People are most productive when they know that they are making a difference. Working towards a vision shows them where and how they can make a difference.

If the vision can’t be articulated by the leader then there might as well not be a vision. If the…

On Becoming Better at Failing

Doug Dickerson on Leadership

Am I failing different each time? – David Kelley

In his book, “The Power of Optimism”, Alan Loy McGinnis wrote of the great fire Thomas Edison experienced at his lab. Edison’s manufacturing facilities were heavily damaged by fire one night in December, 1914. Edison lost almost $1 million worth of equipment and the record of much of his work. The next morning, walking about the charred embers of his hopes and dreams, the 67-year old inventor said, “There is value in disaster. All our mistakes are burned up. Now we can start anew.”

Edison’s attitude in the face of his disaster serves as a reminder and as encouragement to those who have ever experienced a setback or failure. As a leader the question is not whether you will have failures, but when you do, how will you respond? As you grow as a leader the types of failures and the…
