Silken robes as tattered rags

Zen Flash

ljfI consider the positions of kings and rulers as that of dust motes.

I observe treasures of gold and gems as so many bricks and pebbles. I look upon the finest silken robes as tattered rags.

I see myriad worlds of the universe as small seeds of fruit, and the greatest lake on Earth as a drop of oil on my foot.

Opening the Hand of Thought

Zen Flash

” At times, we plunge our heads too far into memories and fantasies, or myths and history, or religious dogma and formalized -isms.
When we admire these, believe in them blindly, and become frenzied and fanatical, we activate this fixed and conceptual existence.
We totally confuse this kind of conceptual existence with the raw life-experience of the present and end up being dragged around by it.
We do things that only stifle raw life. This is happening all the time…..We have to conclude that the important thing is to really practice, aiming at living out the reality of life. ”

If you want serenity

Zen Flash

If you want wisdom, empty your heart of ignorance. If you want contentment, empty your heart of greed. If you want serenity, empty your heart of ill will.

Your true home

Zen Flash

“Your true home is in the here and the now. It is not limited by time, space, nationality, or race. Your true home is not an abstract idea. It is something you can touch and live in every moment..”

Those who know do not talk

Zen Flash

Photo: Those who know do not talk. Those who talk do not know ~ Lao Tzu ~ Tao Te Ching ~ The disciples were absorbed in a discussion of Lao Tzu's dictum: "Those who know do not talk. Those who talk do not know." When the master entered, they asked him what the words meant. Said the master, "Which of you knows the fragrance of a rose?" All of them indicated that they knew. Then he said, "put it into words." All of them were silent. ~ Anthony de Mello ~

Myriad things

Zen Flash

bud-bird

That you carry yourself forward and experience the myriad things is delusion.

That the myriad things come forward and experience themselves is awakening.

Serenity

Mindfulbalance

IMG_2566

A long weekend here in Ireland,  so a chance to refresh and nourish ourselves, taking a step back to notice compulsive running, outside and inside our minds.  Meditation practice is more about settling back into something that is already present,  rather than a need to “achieve” a goal, even a “good” or “calm” goal. Often this desire to achieve is based on a perfect image of ourselves and just fuels an underlying feeling that we are lacking in a fundamental way, needing to be supported and held up.

Empty your mind of all thoughts.Let your heart be at peace.
Watch the turmoil of beings,  but contemplate their return.

Each separate being in the universe returns to the common source.
Returning to the source is serenity.

Waiting

Mindfulbalance

File:Chihuahua waiting in vehicle IMG 0541.JPG

Life is not somewhere waiting for you, it is happening in you. It is not in the future as a goal to be arrived at, it is here now, this very moment — in your breathing, circulating in your blood, beating in your heart – whatsoever you are is your life, and if you start seeking meaning somewhere else, you will miss it. Man has done that for centuries

Resolving Personality Conflict In The Workplace

Practical Practice Management

battle of two young female employees - eye to eye

One of the most time consuming issues that a manager deals with is staff personality conflict. Of all the tough issues that are dealt with, this one has no simple solution because when personalities conflict, you cannot make those involved change their personalities.

What needs to happen is try to find ways that they can work together without rubbing each other wrong so much and to do that you need to open communication between the parties involved.

The most successful way to work through this is to talk to the parties involved separately to find out what the real issues are. Because sometimes one person will become so irritated with the other that they really cannot see what the true problem is.

Taking the time to talk it through with each party and bringing the issue down to its appropriate size, makes it is easier to examine. The manager then…
