Successful Communication

Good communicators know that just because something was said doesn’t mean it was heard. Great communicators know that even if it was heard it doesn’t mean it was understood.

Lack of communication can be deadly for an organization, most people realize that. What some people, and unfortunately some leaders, don’t understand is that miscommunication can be just as deadly. Wars, including world wars, have literally been caused by miscommunication.

One cause of miscommunication is an ill informed communicator. One thing I often tell people who want to be a better presenter is that if you know what you’re talking about there is no need to be nervous. I also tell them that if you don’t know what you’re talking about there is no need to be talking.

Even well informed communicators can sometimes miscommunicate. But the very best communicators don’t. They consistently apply the following four principles for successful communication.

No matter what type of job we have if the public sees us our appearance has influence on the company we work for.

It is human nature to make these types of judgments even when once they pop into our mind we try to discard them.

Our eyes are quick to transmit to our brain what they see and our brain is even faster to process the judgment before we can consciously say “No” to the thought.

It does seem unfair that our appearance carries such weight, but the fact is that it does.

Prior to Covid The Western Conference has been held at the Disneyland Hotel. Hopefully, next year we can resume an in person conference. When presenting at this professional conference I always pay close attention to all employees and how they appear and present to their guests.

ஆனால், அந்த குரு, தனக்கு குரு என்று யாரைச் சொன்னார் தெரியுமா? தெரிந்தால், மிகவும் ஆச்சரியப்படுவீர்கள்.

மஹாபெரியவரிடம் அளவற்ற பக்தி கொண்ட ஒரு பணக்கார பக்தர், அடிக்கடி காஞ்சி மடம் வந்து பெரியவரைத் தரிசித்து செல்வார். ஒருமுறை, அவர் தனது குடும்பத்தாருடன், தான் வாங்கிய புதிய காரில் மடத்திற்கு வந்தார்.

அதுசமயம் ஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா அவர்கள் அருகிலுள்ள கலவை கிராமத்திற்கு சென்றுள்ளார் என்பதை அறிந்து, இவரும் அங்கு சென்றார்.

கலவையில் பெரியவரைத் தரிசித்த அவர், தன் கார் சாவியை பெரியவரிடம் கொடுத்து, “பெரியவரே! தாங்கள் தொட்டு ஆசிர்வதிக்க வேண்டும்,” என்றார்.

பெரியவர் அவரிடம், கலவையில் உள்ள ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்தின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி, “நீ அங்கு செல். அங்குள்ள மரத்தின் அடியில், ஒரு பெரியவர் தாடி மீசையுடன் படுத்திருப்பார். அவரை உன் புதுக்காரில் அழைத்து வா,” என்று உத்தரவிட்டார்.

Often, when I have conversations with people I will ask about their employment and how they like their job. I usually hear one of two things; “I love my job, or I hate my job.” There are times when I might hear, “My job is okay, I am glad I have one, but it is just a job.”

In 2017 a Gallup pollshowed that 70% of Americans were disengaged with their job. So that is why you will probably find more people with negative responses about their employment than a positive, and things have not changed much for the positive regarding this, especially since so many people are unemployed during this time of the Pandemic.
